Time flies quickly! Christmas is almost here! I feel Christmas is approaching faster than ever this year.
I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year. After the Christmas break I'll update my blog. The weather in South Wales has been not brilliant, rather wet, probably no white Christmas. But I'm looking forward to going outside and finding trees for my new printings after the break in the new year!
I love wild plants and foraging. Roaming the meadows and woodlands is a big pleasure. In my blog I introduce my paper cut and print art work as well as seasonal countryside diary.

LEAVES OF BRITISH TREES
2013
Calendar with single colour (sometimes 2 colours like December) each month
different colours every 2 months
Calendar with 2 colours each month
different colour for leaves every 2 months and 2 colours for calendar side alternately
I made calendars for the nus nus Winter Fair, which consists 12 different leaves in each month. Actually I wanted to make the calendar made of paper, but didn't have enough time to find. As a compromise, I found acrylic case. And yet many people liked them. I would like to thank you!
LEAVES OF BRITISH "TREES"; yes it is precisely not correct. Ivy is not a tree but a climber , but I liked to put it in the calendar since the evergreen leaves attract our eyes in the dark winter. The same applies to holly leaves. I like the vermillion berries, which are usually picked up by birds quickly every year but were luckily still on the branches when I was sketching.
A friend of mine mentioned that she was surprised maidenhair tree (better known as ginkgo) was a British tree. Origin is actually China, but nowadays you can find them broadly in the UK. The ginkgo leaves I sketched is found in my town somewhere.
So you might know now the leaves I printed are those of trees which grow widely in the UK today.

To Begin with
I started drawing with colouring pencils and water colours plants some years ago; at first around in our garden, then I went to the meadow, the woodland and the field near by our house.
I like always to look through the windows of a train, a car, a coach or whatever. Especially in the winter, I make myself busy with finding deciduous trees with bare branches. Every tree has different shape and different character, if trees have characters. (Yes, I think so.)
There are now relief printings I have already created since then. (I am going to write about relief printing some time later.) As having opened my own blog account just recently, I will introduce my printings one by one in 'My Art Work'. Also I will tell about plants including trees and leaves in 'Trees' from time to time.

At last!
I have opened the online shop at Etsy, which is one of the most popular worldwide art and craft online marketplaces.

London Plane

In my town London Plane trees are often seen on roadsides. I like the hairy red flowers between the big leaves, but also the prickle fruite on the bare branches. On dry crisp days I sketched trees; usually the chatty mag pies make busy themselves from branches to branches, sometimes black birds are singing pleasantly. Sketching in the winter is not very confortable, but it is often something to find with pleasure. I wanted to put this pleasure (birds, I mean) on the work. (Birds were

3 plywood panels were used for the work (top). In fact, the fruits (but they look like snow) and the birds were simultaneously printed on the 3rd round. I kept some 1st round printings, which means only bare trees stand as samples. But I thought, it might be worth to try to do the 3rd round without the 2nd round. This is the work without red branches. It looks simple with winterly atmosphere (purple grey dots/fruits look like snow). I like this, too.
