Ichi Artisan Winter Market 2017

Hello, everyone, Artisan Winter Market last Saturday,
I am very glad that our first event, Ichi Artisan Winter Market last Saturday, went well despite the bad weather. I would like to thank you all who liked, shared, came to the fair.

There are a lot of things to improve, but our effort got paid off!

I've got still two more occasions to have a stall. But most of the stress is gone :)

Winter Affordable Art Show at Cardiff M.A.D.E from Thursday 1st December 2016 - 12th February 2017

Cardiff M.A.D.E will hold their seasonal 'Winter Affordable Art Show' from Thursday 1st December 2016 to 31st January 2017.  (Extended to 12th February 2017)

Some of my winter-themed screen prints are shown during the exhibition period.  They will have also winter fayre with handmade craft by local artisans.  If you are around there, please pop in to see!

The Season for the craft fairs are coming.  I'm getting ready for the several fairs including new screen prints on paper and on fabric (new!), greeting cards and the regular wild plants calendar 2017.

The new series is 'British Native Plants'.  The first one is 'Sessile Oak and English Oak'.

I am fascinated that Britain has such wonderful native plants, and want to introduce the wild plants.  On the craft fairs (as well as on Etsy) screen prints on paper and fabric such as tea towel and cushion (+ cushion cover) this time.  There are also other new screen prints as well.

The Exhibition in Japan was over now

My first solo exhibition in Japan was over now.  I've been back home in the UK and am thinking how wonderful it was.  I would like to say thank you all who involved to the exhibition, no matter how involved, in the UK and in Japan and wherever!

The exhibition was held at moi (the website is written in Japanese) in Kakogawa (Hyogo prefecture, near by Himeji, western part of the main island) 4th - 8th November 2015.

I brought original paper-cut artwork, screen prints and relief prints for the exhibition.

It was a great nice surprise that a lot more people came to see my exhibition everyday than expected.

 I ordered tailor-made solid oak frames to rinkoukan (written in Japanese) for my 16 screen print pieces I created especially for this exhibition. Rinkoukan is a furniture workshop run by a skilled furniture artisan, Mr Kanki, in Wakayama prefecture.  We had communicated via email with a lot of images and drafts, and in the end when I saw the frame after having arrived in Japan, I was really glad what amazing work he had done!

Displaying the original paper-cut artwork wasn't originally my idea but the owner of gallery moi.  I'd like to thank her for giving me her invaluable suggestion!  I added coloured opaque paraffin paper to the black paper artwork, which gave a very different impression to the screen print one.
